iPhone Contacts How to Export iPhone Contacts to CSV File

Export Contacts to Excel Spreadsheet (CSV) File:

  • In order for the following process to work, you should have synced your iPhone data with your PC using the iTunes.
  • Once you are done with the above step, just connect your iPhone to your PC using the cable that came with it. Make sure that your iPhone is turned ON, otherwise, it won’t work.
  • Click on the Start button on your Windows PC and then enter Run in the Search box.
  • The Run application will be launched, just type wad in the box and hit Enter.
  • You will now see all the contacts that you have on your iPhone in this folder. It is because you had synced your device with your PC before. At the top of the folder, you will see a button called Export, just click on it.
  • You can get the export of your contacts in two formats, choose the first one that says CSV.
  • Choose the location where you want to save the exported file. I’d prefer Desktop.
  • As soon as the exporting finishes, you will get the file in your chosen folder (Desktop).

You can view the file using Microsoft Excel software if you have installed it on your PC. It can also be viewed using Google Docs.

I followed all the steps and after I typed in “wad” in the Run box, a message came up that Windows was unable to find the program specified (although I have my iPhone connected).

I have been on the look for ways to export my iPhone contacts and instead used a tool called CopyTrans Contacts to export my contacts in *.vcf.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn’t CSV export only contact data without the contact photos since it is an Excel-type of file? I know that the VCF contact entries contain all the contact data.

    • Hello K Small,

You need to have iTunes installed on your PC as well as you should have synced your contacts with your PC.

Yes, the CSV file will have only text and number details, it will not have photo of your contacts.
